The Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals, or GHS, is a universal system for describing, categorizing and communicating the hazards of chemical products. The system places health and safety information on chemical labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) in an organized and consistent manner. The goal of GHS is to develop one set of rules for the format and content of chemical labeling that will be adopted and used around the world, with the intent of improving workplace safety and health protections. As of June 1, 2015, all labels will be required to include the following information: 1) Product Identifier, 2) Signal Word, 3) Hazard Statement, 4)Pictograms, 5) Precautionary Statement and 6) Supplier Identifier.
